Girl Hug Boy Day

Hugs can release a hormone called oxytocin into the bloodstream. Be produced in the pituitary gland, oxytocin helps lower blood pressure, heart rate, and the stress hormone cortisol.  It also prevent sadness, improves mood and memory, and increases bonding and closeness.  Hugging often tend to increase empathy for others.  For hugs to be beneficial, participants must trust each other and both want to hug.  Otherwise, the opposite effect will occur, and cortisol levels will rise, causing stress.

Quite simply, if you are a girl, today is to hug a boy! Let give a hug to your husband or your boyfriend, or simply give hugs to your friends and family members.  Give virtual hugs to people you can't hug in person.  If you're a guy or a man, you might suggest to the women in your life that it's Girl Hug Boy Day, and maybe they'll give you a hug.
