Global Movie Day

Global Movie Day is established by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences every year on the 2nd Saturday of February. Global Movie Day is held before the Oscars day for fans to honor movies that inspire them as well as the filmmakers they love.

Why is the movie so popular?

1. Help us think more, think and be smarter. With action movies, intelligence, detectives, criminal police, complicated dramas make us think and apply more flexibly.

2. Learn more about the world around us: We can learn about different people, different cultures, famous landmarks in the world, learn about the lives of animals’ wild, plant species in different regions through documentaries, world programs here and there, animal world, natural world... We will get to know the surrounding life more though they can't afford to travel everywhere or can't afford to explore it directly.

3. In busy, irritable, and stressful world, many of us turn to television and movies for entertainment - and it can be a great "escape".

Psychologist John Mayer, a researcher in scientific psychology, and an American writer and screenwriter, said:

"Movies are a coping mechanism that takes us away from the everyday world. It helps us with other important psychological issues in life. Coming into a fictional world, it can be inspiring because it gives us the opportunity to live in reality differently. Also, watching movies can encourage us to fight against our fears, can make us want to love, can be uplifting our brain power, and help us master our real world"

History of Global Movie Day

Global Movie Day was established by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2020 to honor good, meaningful films that positively impact people and movies that help connect people.
