National Cream-Filled Chocolates Day
National Cream-Filled Chocolates Day is observed next on Friday, February 14th, 2025 (83 days from today).
National Cream-Filled Chocolates Day is celebrated on February 14 every year. The Cream-Filled chocolate is filled with delicious sorbets in it. There are two ways to make cream chocolate - the first idea is to make ganache and fondant, roll it into a ball and dip the fondant in the chocolate, and another is to use a mold and pour the melted chocolate into the mold. The filling of these chocolates can be mint, milk or dark chocolate, caramel, peanut, strawberry or it can be any flavor one chooses. This chocolate is better to make at home than to buy. The different shaped molds used to create these creamy chocolates are delightful. It's a reason for all chocolate lovers to eat more on this day.
History of National Cream-Filled Chocolates Day
The interesting concept of creamy chocolates is actually based on simple pralines, originally noted in the 17th century by a sugar industrialist named Marshal du Pessis-Praslin.
At the time, cocoa (and therefore chocolate) was relatively unknown in Europe, so today's pralines are mostly just nuts coated with caramelized sugar. As more new ingredients became available from the New World, pralines slowly but surely began to evolve and became more and more innovative and fancy as the years passed.
The first cream-covered chocolates we know today are said to have been created in 1912 by Jean Neuhaus II, a Belgian chocolatier. It doesn't take long for these chocolates to contain everything from different liqueurs to macaroons, from fruit to caramel, and almost anything else you can imagine. But, of course, the most important aspect that is central is the ice cream.
As National Cream-Filled Chocolates Day coincides with another important chocolate lovers holiday (Valentine's Day), it is expected that at least £58 million of chocolates will be bought in and around the day. Obviously, not all of this chocolate is creamy, but there will be a delicious portion!
How to celebrate National Cream-Filled Chocolates Day
Just like any other form of celebration, National Cream-Filled Chocolates Day can require a bit of planning in advance, especially for those who want to try making their own candy. But there are plenty of options to enjoy the day, especially for those willing to be creative!
Buy and enjoy a variety of Cream-Filled chocolates
The most obvious way to celebrate this day is to fill your mouth and belly with the deliciousness of luxurious, gourmet chocolates. Many companies have made their chocolates famous around the world, and buying them online makes accessing them even easier:
- Lindt. This Swiss company was originally known for truffles but is now most famous for its chocolate balls. Strawberry and Ice Cream is a particularly well-loved flavored ice cream.
- Hershey’s. Especially on Valentine's Day, this American company often decorates chocolate hearts covered with cream.
- Ferrero. Founded in Italy, this fine chocolate purveyor has gained a worldwide reputation for their hazelnut-filled Rocher candies.
- Embaré. Hailing from Brazil, this company is particularly adept at creating chocolates filled with exotic fruit flavors.
Enjoy the chocolate guessing game
Cream chocolates are usually included in boxes of various chocolates, which you can buy at grocers, gift shops, or specialty chocolate shops. Many times, manufacturers put instructions inside the box so that users can easily recognize and enjoy each type of chocolate.
To make a game of it, buy a few boxes of chocolates to take to work or a creamy Chocolate Day party. But instead of leaving instructions for friends to see, keep it a secret and turn eating chocolate into a guessing game of who can determine what they get! (Just be careful with nut allergies.)
Winner? Of course, the proper prize would be a special selection of chocolates topped with cream.
Grab some heart-shaped Cream-Filled chocolate
Since it coincides with Valentine's Day, people can see that their favorite ice cream chocolates come in the shape of a heart as well as the standard round, oval and square shapes, which adds something special to them how to enjoy candy.
Make your own Cream-Filled chocolate
If you have a craving for something unique or a craving hits in the middle of the night, you can make your own ice cream-covered chocolates—surprisingly, it really isn't that difficult! Chocolate molds are available from companies like Wilton.
To make these mouth-watering treats, you simply line the mold with molten chocolate, let it harden, and fill the shell with what your heart desires most (or three, or ten, is bounds of the sky), and then covered them with another layer of chocolate. That's it! You have your own custom made cream chocolates, anytime you need that creamy chocolate filling.
Contrary to popular belief, one of the easiest and most basic fillings is salted caramel, so when thinking about how to celebrate National Cream-Filled Chocolates Day, it's time to embark on this recipe:
Salted caramel filling recipe
Ingredients:
- 200g sugar
- 1 small vanilla bean, grated
- 100g thick cream
- 150g unsalted butter, cut into pieces
- 3g salt
Note: Some people tend to complain about how easily caramel burns, which can make it seem intimidating. But true burning is only possible if a candy maker tries to speed up the process, but caramelizing is a slow and deliberate activity. Caramel requires some time and patience, but the wait is more than worth it!
Instructions:
Put the sugar and vanilla beans in a clean saucepan, cook gently over low heat, until the sugar dissolves. Don't rush the process and try not to stir the mixture too much to keep it from clumping. If so, don't panic, just keep heating and eventually the sugar will melt on its own?
When the cream is completely melted, add the cream and beat until combined. Reduce heat even more and add butter, piece by piece, mixing well after adding each one. Then add the salt, stir again, let the mixture cool and thicken. When it's completely cooled, place the caramel in a piping bag and get ready to fill those chocolates with delicious sweet, savory, buttery goodness!
A finished and cooled dish, don't forget to share with friends, neighbors and family members to make a memorable National Cream-Filled Chocolates Day!
