National River Cleanup Day
National River Cleanup Day is observed next on Saturday, May 17th, 2025 (177 days from today).
The National River Cleanup Day was started in 1992 by America Outdoors, a national association of apparel and guides, and American Rivers, a North American conservation organization, as a way to assist local communities in keeping keep their rivers, basins and shores clean.
National River Cleanup Day Activities:
- Bosque Community Cleanup at Central Avenue Bridge: Cleanup activities for all ages in the woods along Central Avenue Bridge.
- Organize Your Own Bosque Cleanup: Do you have a favorite bosque area? Consider hosting your own River Cleanup session! The Open Spaces Department will provide garbage bags and dispose of the collected waste.
- Clean up the river with your own kayak, canoe or raft: Experienced boaters can sign up to clear the river with your own raft, kayak or canoe. You must provide your own transportation and transfers for your boat. The Open Space Department will provide you with trash bags and will process the collected trash. Also, be aware that because river flows are unusually low this spring, drifting can be a challenge.
- Quiet Water Paddling organizes River Cleanup for experienced boaters.
