Stepmother's Day
Stepmother's Day is observed next on Sunday, May 18th, 2025 (176 days from today).
Stepmothers often do their best to take care of their husband's children, even if they are not related by blood. They cared for and raised their own children as if she had given birth to them. Stepmothers provide them with energy, time, affection, and even financial support. The celebration of Mother's Day can be awkward for some, especially since its very nature is founded on the bond between mothers and their biological children. Therefore, for the purpose of inclusion, people celebrate Stepmother's Day so that children honor their always hardworking stepmother.
History of Stepmother's Day
Stepmother's Day is celebrated every Sunday after Mother's Day. During this holiday, people around the world celebrate by conducting various activities related to honoring stepmothers. Some people celebrate by giving gifts and touching letters to their stepmother. Others celebrate by spending quality time with their stepmother by going to the mall or any other place they can bond.
Stepmom's Day is a holiday founded by Lizzie Capuzzi, a 9-year-old girl from Pennsylvania who wants to honor, praise and express her highest gratitude to her stepmother named Joyce. She is the one who fixed the celebration on the Sunday after Mother's Day. To make the event more widespread, Lizzie and Joyce sent a letter to Senator Rick Santorum, who endorsed the idea of such a celebration to the senate floor. He was able to gather support for the admission of such a date. This fact was published in the Congressional Records. Since 2000, people around the world celebrate Stepmother's Day.
Why Stepmothers Day
- In honor of your stepmother
The first major reason why you should celebrate this holiday is that this is the perfect opportunity for you to honor your stepmother if you have one. You should show your appreciation to her. She put her time and effort into taking care of you and treating you like her own child even if she wasn't the one who actually gave birth to you. Perhaps your connection to her goes far beyond that of biological mothers and children.
- Compliment a stepmother you know
Or maybe you know someone who is a stepmother. If you do, then this day also gives you the best chance to honor them for being a good stepmother. There are many stories of evil stepmothers. If the stepmother you know is the exact opposite of that, then she can definitely compliment you.
- To appreciate all the stepmothers in the world
This is also the perfect day where you can show your appreciation to all the stepmothers around the world. They also deserve to be praised and honored.
How to celebrate Stepmother's Day
- Give a gift
A good thing to do for your celebration of this day is to give your stepmother a gift. You should try to figure out what gift she wants. Then you can give that to her along with a hug.
- Write a letter
Or you could also try writing a letter to your stepmother. In doing so, grammar or spelling doesn't matter. Just make sure the letter you write comes from your heart. Let her feel that you love her and appreciate her very much. Tears may well up in her eyes from happiness knowing that she is cherished and appreciated by you.
- Celebrate on social media
You can also post your celebration of this day on social media as others join in Stepmother's Day. For instance, you can use the hashtag #StepmomDay to shout out to all the stepmothers in the world that they are good moms. You can also use this hashtag to let your friends and followers on your social media accounts know that you are also joining in the celebration of this day.
