Take

Take Your Child to the Library Day is a celebration held on February 6 each year. Libraries play an important role in anyone's life right from their childhood. The books in the library will even help you understand things beyond academic books. The silence like pin-drop, the collection of books, the smell of books and the librarian are the best feelings for anyone. Why not make your child enjoy all this and more? Take Your Child to the Library Day encourages all parents to bring their children to the library and introduce books to their children.

Take Your Child to the Library Day history

Nadine Lipman and Caitlin Augusta are co-chairs of Take Your Child to the Library Day. Nadine came up with the idea to make a fun way to raise public awareness of the library and all the resources and events held there throughout the year. The first day was held in 2011 and has grown to include libraries across the country.

When you visit this website, you will be able to learn about ways to celebrate this day and why it is important to bring the community back to the library. For years, libraries have faced funding problems and had to be creative in their fundraising. This is the perfect opportunity to host events that can elevate the local library in the community's mind.

Take Your Child to the Library Day (TYCttLD) has been held since 2012. Librarians Nadine Lipman and Caitlin Augusta came up with the idea in December 2011. The first Saturday of February every year marks the Anniversary Day. Nadine launched this Memorial Day as a fun way to raise public awareness of libraries in a child's life and thereby promote library services and programs for children and families. .

The idea soon became popular, and librarians began planning special events, shows, and exhibits for the Day. TYCttLD is an international initiative for parents to refer every child to the nearest local library. Libraries serve all children in your community regardless of social or economic status.
