Bicycle Day
Bicycle Day is observed next on Saturday, April 19th, 2025 (146 days from today).
Bicycle Day on April 19th every year is a day to start wheeling out.
Bicycle Day is fast approaching. And while we don't think it's going to happen like Thanksgiving, the popularity of the event is growing year by year. However, it is still a missing day for a lot of people while many others have a completely wrong idea of the content of the celebration.
The event has grown at a rapid pace and is expected to be bigger than ever in 2020 before continuing to grow in the coming years. While some people might consider it as a strange thing to celebrate, especially when they found that it is not what they thought it was, however, it will stay here. In fact, it also has all the rights.
Don't try that slur on Bicycle Day.
Some truths about Bicycle Day
Given its name, you would be forgiven for concluding that Bicycle Day is the anniversary of the single-track, pedal-powered two-wheeler. It is possible to confirm that the development of the bike is for World Bicycle Day, of course, you can put on your helmet and ride the Queen record for a while longer.
Bicycle Day is actually a celebration of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD). In addition, Bicycle Day celebrates that LSD (subsequently other psychoactive substances) can evoke significant changes in consciousness even at low doses. Thus, this is one of the greatest breakthroughs in the history of the use of this substance as a psychotropic tool, recreationally as well as in other situations.
As a result, the day is celebrated in a variety of psychedelic communities by advocates of all ages, as well as (sinful!) individuals who want another reason to add a little color to theirs life - albeit in a much safer environment.
With the importance of discovery scientific, especially its influence on subsequent discoveries, Bicycle Day is a valid celebration for all to respond and participate. You don't have to be a geek to appreciate the growth of drugs for medical reasons in recent decades. Therefore, when did this discovery take place and how did Bicycle Day become a day of honor? Let's find out together.
History of Bicycle Day
Although Bicycle Day is not for bicycles celebration, most people who learn about this holiday are relieved to discover that the two worlds’ means of transport play an unlikely role in the story. Even for an LSD user, not having a bike would be weird.
Famous Bicycle ride
The historic event is literally a bicycle "trip" by Dr. Albert Hofmann. In April 1945, a Swiss scientist accidentally discovered the effects of LSD on the human body. In his experiment, he took a 250mcg dose of the substance before going home with his lab assistant after some days. During the ride home, Hofmann's ride begins with bouts of anxiety and distorted paranoid thoughts that the next-door neighbor is an evil witch.
However, the trip will change his perception in a more positive direction. Then he explains that little by little, I could begin to enjoy the unprecedented colors and shapes that remained behind my closed eyes. Great images like a kaleidoscope filled me, alternating, arrayed, opening and closing themselves in circles and spirals, exploding in fountains of color, rearranging and combining them in continuous flow.
After being examined by an internist, it was confirmed that (apart from dilated pupils) no physical changes could be detected, thus confirming the effects were purely psychological. While Hofmann predicted correctly after his previous encounter three days, his calculations of this threshold were uncorrected. That 250mg hit was 10 times higher than the 20mg cut-off dose, which may explain why the effects were so rapid and noticeable.
However, that obviously didn't do him much harm in the long run as he lived to be 102 years old!
The Evolution of Bicycle Day
While the famous bike ride of Hofmann took place in 1945, Bicycle Day has not kicked off for another four decades! It was a very long comedy.
Thomas B. Roberts, Professor at Northern Illinois University, was the organizer of the first Bicycle Day, which began with nothing more than a party at his DeKalb, Illinois home. Although it remained a small-scale event in subsequent years, it grew in popularity at a rapid rate during the early years of online interaction as students spread the word on forums and platforms or other internet platforms as well.
Now, it's an annual event that's taken to the next level, with thousands of people celebrating it in their own ways. A lot of people are expected to take part in the fun holiday from year to year.
How to celebrate Bicycle Day
To have a happy and significant Bicycle Day is extremely easy and simple to do. The best way to celebrate this day is to cycle long distances with your friends, family members, and even co-workers.
