History of World Circus Day
The World Circus Federation or Fédération Mondiale du Cirque in France was established in 2008 with its headquarters in Monte Carlo, Monaco. Princess Stéphanie of Monaco holds the post of honorary president of the Federation. The World Circus Federation is a non-profit organization in order to preserve, support and promote the art and culture of circus.
On 19th April 2008, it was the first celebration European Circus Day by of the World Circus Federation. World Circus Day became worldwide in 2010 and then this day is chosen to celebrate every year. According to the Federation, World Circus Day is the world's largest joint international holiday of the circus community. Its main goal is to celebrate the art and culture of circus as well as to attract more people interested in the circus.
The World Circus Federation encourages the organization of special events dedicated to World Circus Day by circuses around the world as well as circus schools and other circus-related organizations. Any participant can register their event online so more people can learn about it.
