Morse Code Day
Morse Code Day is observed next on Sunday, April 27th, 2025 (153 days from today).
Morse code is one of ways created to transmit text through a variety of signals. As you know, each character or alphabet of any language is represented by a list of dots and dashes that can be recognized directly by a skilled listener or viewer, without the need for specialized equipment. It is called for Samuel F. B. Morse, an inventor of the telegraph. Morse code has been appeared and lasted for around 160 years, which is longer than any other electrical coding system. This language has used in Aviation, Amateur Radio and can be transmitted by strobe lights. Another important use of this communication is to make help people with disabilities be able to interact through a simple touch, or even through a skin vibrator.
History of Morse Code Day
Morse code was originally developed as a telegraph system in the 1830s, which uses dashes, periods, and spaces to represent letters, numbers, and punctuation. It is transmitted in form of short and long pulses or flashes of light. Morse's assistant and partner, Alfred Lewis Vail improved and further developed Morse code at a European conference in the 1950s. This newer version includes non-English text that would change the way pronunciation or meaning of a word. In the wars of the 20th century and in the shipping industry in the 1990s, this message was used widely.
Morse Code Day is to celebrate the birthday of Samuel Morse, the co-developer of Morse code. He was an American painter, who also made contribution to create the single-wire telegraph system based on European telegraph machines. He invented the telegraph as a quick means of long distance communication because he could not see his dead wife due to the slow connection. In a letter sending to his friend, Morse explained all difficulties he had to fight to be the sole inventor of the electromagnetic machine despite previous inventions.
