National Disc Jockey Day
(Also known as National DJ Day)
National Disc Jockey Day is observed next on Monday, January 20th, 2025 (27 days from today).
Disc Jockey, also known as DJ for short, is understood as a person who specializes in selecting and broadcasting pre-recorded music to certain audiences, and at the same time adjusting and modifying the sound to suitable for different audiences to enjoy music.
And on January 20 of each year, a National Disc Jockey Day is held to recognize the world's record-playing and spinning DJs.
The origin of the Disc Jockey profession is from the Jamaican people in the 50s of the last century, but it was not until the late 60s when DJ was introduced to the US that it really blossomed and developed. The work of the early DJ is still a topic of debate among music researchers. It is said that the first DJ specialized in playing background music for dance floors and the first DJs appeared in the 1930s when audio signals began to be recorded on the grooves of plastic reels or other musical instruments discs, followed by the emergence of a variety of discs and disc players, and DJs were now recruited to be in charge of playing music from those devices in the dance floors. However, some others argue that the first DJs worked for radio stations with the main job of selecting songs and music that were recorded on discs and broadcast on radio to reach audiences. .
The DJ is responsible for stirring up the atmosphere for the bar or discotheque. By "mixing" (Mix music) sounds according to their thinking and creativity to create a vibrant atmosphere, stimulating the excitement of guests. Because of such "liberal" work characteristics, the DJ profession is loved and admired by young people.
On the surface, it's easy to think that DJ is a job... leisurely, just rotate the disc, adjust the mixer up - down and it's done. In fact, to be able to play music completely and professionally, every DJ has to go through a process of learning and self-training arduous.
The main job of a DJ includes selecting and tuning user-oriented music genres called deejaying, playing music called playing and rotating music discs to create a sound effect called spinning. The music that DJs use can be discs, music files in laptops, USB sticks or any other recording medium, including phones. It is important for DJs to use their techniques to adjust and create the desired sound effects including cutting, inverting, phrasing, transposition, reverse turn or mix songs together make the sound truly novel, stylish and inspiring. Professional DJs often mix songs with the same tone or harmonic mixing, a technique known as harmonic mixing.
