National Shoe the World Day
National Shoe the World Day is observed next on Saturday, March 15th, 2025 (114 days from today).
It's not difficult when we join the flow of people at festivals and look at the colorful shoes that each person is wearing. However, not everyone will have shoes to wear, there are many people in the world including children in some underdeveloped countries who do not have shoes to wear. The shoes are known for the purpose of protecting the feet and health of people. However, many people are living in a situation without shoes and can you imagine, how difficult it would be to not wear shoes and walk on all kinds of terrain? Every year March 15 is celebrated as National Shoe The World Day, to recognize the benefits of shoes and to highlight one's compassion for those in need, those who do not have shoes to wear.
More than 500 million children, adolescents and adults do not have a pair of shoes to wear despite the terrain and climate each year. They walk barefoot everywhere, across terrain whether flat or bumpy. Their daily struggle is one that we cannot imagine. Living every day without protecting your feet can lead to lifelong problems including pain, injury, cuts, sores, infections, parasites. Schools and businesses prohibit students and customers from wearing shoes. The fact that people’s health, education and finances are also affected in part by not having shoes. One problem leads to another, creating a never-ending cycle.
There are some people who are lucky enough to have a pair of shoes even though they are too big for them. By this way, their shoes will last for many years as they grow up, their shoes may be old, outdated but to them, they are a fortune and their shoes are precious and they are only allowed to be worn on special occasions. In other cases, they may have a shoe that is too small and tight for them (they will make them work) but to have a pair is a luxury. So, for us who are wearing shoes of all colors and sizes, let's cherish the shoes we have.
History of National Shoe The World Day
National Shoe The World Day was founded by inspiration from Donald Zsemonadi and the United Indigenous Peoples of Fontana, California. Living in a country where many people cannot afford to have their own pair of shoes, their anxiety prompted them to spark World Shoe Day in March 2014. And when it was brought to the registry, they choose March 15 every year as the anniversary date.
Observing National Shoe The World Day
