Save the Frogs Day
Save the Frogs Day is observed next on Saturday, April 26th, 2025 (155 days from today).
The world’s largest day of amphibian education and conservation action called Save the Frogs Day.
Frogs just don't have enough love or awareness that some of them are in danger of leaving Earth as much as bees. Save The Frogs Day is a special opportunity in order to raise awareness about amazing amphibians and what they do for us.
If you hate all insects, you should definitely go out for Save the Frogs Day! Because that is just the beginning!
History of Save the Frogs Day
Frogs can be found all over the world and have been with us for a very long time, with the first ancestors of modern frogs dating back to the Triassic period. That was a long time ago! Since then, these almost complete carnivores have eaten every known insect worldwide.
Not a fan of mosquitoes? You should absolutely be a fan of frogs; they eat tons of them every year! Sometimes they even eat them before they turn into mosquitoes, eating mosquito larvae before they have a chance to develop into the bloodsucking demons we all love to hate.
Frogs are often confused with toads, the difference being that toads have the ability to live on dry land for long periods of time. Frogs require a very humid environment, partly because their skin is semi-permeable, allowing water and air to pass through it easily!
As any frog lover knows that they also have amazing vocal abilities, the song of frogs is one of the first signs of spring in some areas, even in urban areas, where will find ponds and backwaters to live in.
It is unfortunate that frogs meet the endangered, the number of frogs has been decreasing rapidly in the world since the 1950s and it is believed that more than a hundred species of frogs have disappeared from the world since the 80s alone! Save the Frogs Day helps to spread about the dangers they have to face and the consequences of living in a world without frogs.
How to celebrate Save the Frogs Day
At present, frog quantities are decreasing at an unprecedented rate and almost a third of the world's amphibians are at risk of extinction. Since 2009, there have been more than 1,500 Save the Frogs Day educational events celebrated in at least 58 countries worldwide. Save The Frogs Day takes place every year on the last Saturday in April.
Additionally, frog lovers living near the Tahoe National Forest, California have the unique opportunity to volunteer for the California Red Foot Frog Habitat Enhancement Project. Volunteers will assist in the construction of wetlands to benefit the endangered California Red-footed Frog (Rana draytonii). Volunteers will gain practical ecological experience and learn a lot about wetland construction and restoration. The project is currently underway and will run seven days a week through May 8. Volunteers can help on any day or group of days for the duration of the project.
